The Atari 8-bit line of microcomputers where marketed to directly rival other microcomputers, such as the Apple //. They where designed to have superior graphic capabilities, & in fact did. The Atari 800 was supported software-wise until the late-1980's.
I bought my Atari 800 on eBay in 2005
It came with nothing except the Unit, the OS board, 48KB of RAM, & Atari BASIC. Amazingly, a week later, I found a power supply for it at a flea market. Mine came with the metal plate for the cartridge door (which I've found alot of people don't have)
Though It might not be noticable in this photo, the connectors on the OS card are Really worn out! I wonder why...
